Overview
C-Bridge includes a role-based user management system that allows administrators to control who can access the platform, what they can see, and what actions they can perform. Users can log in with standard email/password credentials or via Google Single Sign-On.
Navigate to: Settings → Users
Default Login Credentials
Upon first setup, C-Bridge includes a default administrator account with a default password. The default email and password are printed on the label affixed to the underside of your device and included in your installation documentation.
Change the default password immediately after first login. Do not share or use the default account for ongoing access — create individual accounts for each user.
To change your password: account menu (top right) → Change Password
User Roles
C-Bridge has three user roles:
1. Default Admin (Primary Administrator)
The master system account created during initial setup.
| Permission | Access |
|---|---|
| Dashboard and all features | ✅ Full |
| User and permission management | ✅ Full |
| Network and system configuration | ✅ Full |
| BACnet and integration settings | ✅ Full |
| Firmware and update control | ✅ Full |
| Can be deleted | ❌ No |
This account cannot be removed. Secure it with a strong, unique password and restrict access to the system owner or lead integrator.
2. Admin (Secondary Administrator)
Additional admin accounts for IT personnel, facility managers, or system integrators.
| Permission | Access |
|---|---|
| Dashboard and all features | ✅ Full |
| Create and manage users | ✅ Yes |
| Configure integrations and alerts | ✅ Yes |
| System configuration | ✅ Yes |
| Firmware updates | ✅ Yes |
Create one Admin account per key staff member or integrator — avoid sharing accounts.
3. User (Restricted Access)
Standard user accounts with limited, configurable access.
| Permission | Access |
|---|---|
| Assigned pages and features only | ✅ As configured |
| System-wide settings | ❌ No |
| User management | ❌ No |
| Device/area control | ✅ If permitted |
Users are ideal for occupants, department staff, or anyone who needs dashboard access without administrative control.
Creating a New User
- Go to Settings → Users
- Click Add User
- Fill in the user details:
- Name — display name for the user
- Email — the login email address (must match their Google account if using Google login)
- Role — Admin or User
- Click Save
The user will receive an invitation email with login instructions.
Configuring User Permissions
For User accounts, administrators can configure exactly what each user can access:
Page Access
Control which sections of the interface are visible:
- Dashboard
- BACnet
- Integrations / API
- Energy Monitoring
- Alerts
- Settings (if permitted)
Feature Access
Restrict specific actions:
- Device control (on/off, dimming)
- Scene recall
- Report generation
- Alert configuration
Area / Device Access
Restrict a user to specific areas, floors, or devices — useful for tenants, department heads, or occupants who should only see their own space:
- Select specific areas the user can view and control
- Users outside their assigned areas will not see those areas on the dashboard
Editing and Removing Users
Edit a User
- Click the user's name in the Users list
- Update role, permissions, or email as needed
- Save
Remove a User
- Click the user's name
- Click Delete User
- Confirm
Deleting a user revokes their access immediately. Their activity history is retained in logs.
Google Login (Single Sign-On)
C-Bridge supports Google Sign-In for simplified, password-free authentication.
How It Works
- The user clicks Sign in with Google on the login page
- They complete Google's standard OAuth flow
- C-Bridge verifies the Google account email matches an existing user account
- Access is granted based on the user's assigned role and permissions
Requirements
- The Google account email must exactly match the email in the C-Bridge user account
- The C-Bridge user account must be created first — Google login does not auto-create accounts
- The Google account must be active and not suspended
Benefits
- No passwords to manage for end users
- Improved security via Google's 2FA/MFA
- Faster login experience
Password Management
Resetting a User's Password
If a user cannot log in and is not using Google login:
- Go to Settings → Users, select the user
- Click Reset Password — an email with a reset link is sent to the user
Forgot Password
Users can use the Forgot Password link on the login page to reset their own password.
Best Practices
- Change default admin credentials immediately after setup
- Create individual accounts — avoid shared logins
- Use Google login where possible for enhanced security
- Assign the minimum permissions required for each user's role
- Review and audit user accounts periodically, especially after staff changes
- Limit Admin role to trusted personnel — IT, facility managers, and integrators only
Troubleshooting
User Cannot Log In
- Verify the email and password are correct (check for typos)
- Confirm the user account exists in Settings → Users
- If using Google login, confirm the Google account email matches the C-Bridge email exactly
- Try the Forgot Password flow for standard login
User Cannot Access Certain Features
- Check the permissions assigned to the account in Settings → Users
- Confirm page access toggles are enabled for the required sections
- Admin accounts have full access — check if the user was created as User instead of Admin
Locked Out of All Admin Accounts
- Use the default
admin@cbridge.localaccount if it was not removed - If that account is also inaccessible, contact your system integrator or C-Bridge support
