Getting started

Casambi Network & Pairing

Prepare an existing Casambi network and connect it to C-Bridge.

On this page

Overview

C-Bridge connects to an existing Casambi wireless lighting network over Bluetooth and communicates through the Casambi EXTIF (Extension Interface) — a gateway-level API that provides real-time device status, control commands, sensor values, and network events (see System Overview).

This page covers Casambi-side requirements and pairing. For importing discovered devices into C-Bridge and assigning them to areas, see First-Time Setup and Device & Area Management.

Casambi Network Requirements

  • An active, commissioned Casambi network, set up via the Casambi app, must already exist before connecting C-Bridge — C-Bridge does not commission Casambi fixtures itself
  • C-Bridge connects via Bluetooth, so the gateway must be placed within reliable range of the Casambi mesh (see placement guidance in C-Bridge Installation Guide and Hardware)
  • You will need Casambi network admin credentials on hand during setup (see First-Time Setup, Step 4)

Confirm supported firmware, network limits, and hardware compatibility with your installer for the installed release.

Pairing & Gateway Setup

Pairing happens as part of initial commissioning:

  1. Ensure the C-Bridge gateway is powered, networked, and within Bluetooth range of the Casambi mesh (see C-Bridge Installation Guide)
  2. In the C-Bridge interface, go to Settings → Devices → Discover Devices
  3. Authenticate with your Casambi network admin email and password
  4. Run device discovery — see First-Time Setup, Steps 4–5, for the full walkthrough

For placement and signal strength guidance (RSSI targets, what blocks Bluetooth, site survey tips), see Hardware → Wireless Considerations.

Casambi USB / Serial Interface

Confirm supported firmware, network limits, and hardware compatibility with your installer for the installed release.

Reading Device Status & Control Commands

Once paired, device status and control are handled through the C-Bridge dashboard and API rather than directly through Casambi:

  • See Dashboard & Floorplans for reading live device status and sending control commands from the UI
  • See API Reference for the equivalent REST/WebSocket endpoints

Demand Response

C-Bridge can support demand response by applying controlled lighting reductions or override states in response to utility, grid, or building energy events (see Terminology & Definitions).

Confirm supported firmware, network limits, and hardware compatibility with your installer for the installed release.

DALI / Salvador Notes

Confirm supported firmware, network limits, and hardware compatibility with your installer for the installed release.

Casambi Troubleshooting

For connection and discovery issues, see Troubleshooting Guide → Casambi Connection, which covers network not connecting, devices not appearing after discovery, and devices showing offline.
