Overview
By default C-Bridge gets its address from your network's DHCP server. Use a fixed address when another system, such as a BMS, needs to reach the gateway at an address that never changes.
Choose an approach
| Approach | How | When |
|---|---|---|
| DHCP reservation (recommended) | IT reserves an address for the gateway's MAC address on the router or DHCP server | Most commercial sites. No change on the gateway. |
| Static IP on the gateway | Set the address in Settings → Network | When a reservation is not possible. |
The MAC address is printed on the label under the device.
Set a static IP on the gateway
Direct static-IP and hostname editing depend on the installed release. If the controls below are missing, use a DHCP reservation or contact support.
- Go to Settings → Network.
- Under IP Configuration, select Static.
- Enter the values supplied by your network administrator:
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| IP Address | 192.168.1.100 |
| Subnet Mask | 255.255.255.0 |
| Gateway | 192.168.1.1 |
| DNS Server | 8.8.8.8 |
- Click Save. Expect a brief loss of connectivity while the settings apply.
- Reconnect to the new address and confirm the Network page shows the IP address and Online.
Use an address outside your DHCP pool, or one IT has reserved, to avoid conflicts.
When a fixed address matters
- BACnet deployments, where the BMS needs a stable address.
- Enterprise networks with strict policies.
- Any site where a changed address after DHCP lease expiry would cause disruption.
