Energy & Monitoring

Understand power, energy estimates, area assignments, and available data.

Overview

The Energy & Monitoring section gives building operators and facility managers full visibility into lighting energy consumption — by device, area, floor, or site. Use the available readings and estimates to understand usage trends. Confirm measurement accuracy and data completeness before relying on the results for reporting.

What Is Measured

C-Bridge collects energy data from all connected Casambi lighting devices that report power consumption. This includes:

  • Active power (Watts) — real-time consumption per device
  • Energy usage (kWh) — accumulated over time
  • Runtime hours — total time each device has been on
  • Utilization % — how often a device or area is in use during occupied hours

Data is aggregated at multiple levels:

  • Per device
  • Per area / room
  • Per floor
  • Per site

Energy Dashboard

The Energy dashboard displays:

Summary Tiles

  • Total kWh — cumulative usage for the selected period
  • Average daily usage — normalized consumption
  • Estimated cost — based on configured rate ($/kWh)
  • Carbon estimate — CO₂ equivalent (based on configured grid factor)

Trend Chart

  • Line or bar chart of daily/weekly energy use
  • Selectable date range (Today, 7 days, 30 days, custom range)
  • Hover to see per-day values

Area Breakdown

  • Ranked list of areas by energy consumption
  • Helps identify high-usage zones or anomalies

Per-Device View

Navigate to any individual device to see its energy history:

  • Daily kWh chart — usage over the selected period
  • Peak usage times — hours of highest consumption
  • Runtime hours — cumulative on-time
  • Dimming efficiency — estimated savings from dimming vs. full-on operation

Date Range & Filtering

Use the date range selector at the top of the Energy page to filter data:

You can also filter by:

  • Specific area or floor
  • Device type (lights, sensors)
  • Active vs. inactive devices

Exporting Reports

Export formats vary by software release. Check the options available on your gateway or contact support; CSV and PDF exports have not been verified for this guide. The Gateway API Reference lists energy endpoints for integrations.

Configuring Energy Settings

Cost Rate

Set your electricity rate so C-Bridge can calculate estimated costs:

  1. Go to Settings → Energy
  2. Enter your cost per kWh (e.g. $0.12/kWh)
  3. Save

Carbon Factor

Set a CO₂ emissions factor for your utility grid (optional):

  • Use a verified factor appropriate to your utility and reporting period
  • Adjust to your local grid factor for accurate carbon reporting

Interpreting the Data

Distinguish reported power readings from estimates based on configured wattage and lighting state. Do not assume every fixture measures power. Validate the source, units, period, and completeness of the data before using it in external reports.

Troubleshooting

No Data Appearing

  • Confirm devices are connected and reporting in the Casambi network
  • Check that devices support power reporting (not all Casambi fixtures do)
  • Verify the time range is not set to a period before the system was installed

Data Seems Incorrect

  • Check that device wattage values are configured correctly in settings
  • Ensure the gateway has been online continuously — gaps in connectivity cause gaps in data

Export Fails

  • Check internet connectivity
  • Try a shorter date range if the export is timing out
